Priding himself as a multi-disciplined artist, Glover hasn’t wanted to be pinned down to just one category. As a musician, he performs under the moniker Childish Gambino, a name he got from the Wu-Tang name generator. After several self-released albums and a mixtape, Glover signed on to Glassnote Records in 2011. The first Childish Gambino studio album release of "Camp," was released in Nov. of 2011, followed by the Dec. 2013 release of  "Because the Internet." The most recent studio album release of "Awaken, My Love" came with critical acclaim and commercial success. Much to the disappointment of his fans, at the 2017 Governors Ball, Childish Gambino announced he would release only one more album.

"When anybody pays you to be creative, you're very lucky."

Donald Glover

When it comes to multi-threat artists, few can even hold a candle to Donald Glover. As an actor, writer, producer, director, comedian, rapper, DJ, singer and songwriter, it’s safe to say he's always keeping busy. Fresh from his Emmy wins as outstanding Lead Actor and Director for a comedy series for “Atlanta,” Glover doesn't rest on his laurels. He gets back to work on a multitude of other projects, including his current focus - completing his final album as Childish Gambino. Which it should also be noted the industry has also showered him with praise and as a recording artist, Glover’s been nominated for two Grammy's. There is no denying the talent and work ethic. Accomplishing so much at his young age, he’s forced us to “stay woke” and pay attention to what he’ll do next.

He first drew attention for his work with Derrick Comedy, an online sketch comedy group at NYU with a large YouTube following. His work was seen by Tina Fey, and with her help, he was hired to become a writer for NBC's 30 Rock. After several cameo appearances on the show, it became evident he had a talent for acting as well. This led to his role as Troy Barnes on the NBC sitcom “Community” as well as roles on the big screen in films like The Martian, Magic Mike XXL, Spider-Man Homecoming, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and he was most recently announced as the voice of Simba in the remake of The Lion King.

Where Donald Glover has received the most accolades is for his work in the FX television series “Atlanta.” In 2015, FX ordered a pilot for the first 10-episode season of Atlanta. The show premiered on Sept. 6, 2016 and was met with much critical success. The first season earned Glover two Golden Globes for Best Actor Comedy and Best Comedy Series. In 2017, he earned two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series.

But Donald Glover didn’t stop there. On December 2, 2016 he released his third, and most successful studio album, “Awaken, My Love!” The album includes critically endorsed and commercial success “Redbone.” A track that reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. He won a Grammy for "Redbone" in the R&B category. On June 2017 at the Governor's Ball, he ended his performance by telling the audience, “I’ll see you for the last Gambino album.” He told the Huffington Post that he felt his music career was no longer “necessary” and “there’s nothing worst than a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘again?”

So much in such little time, we are excited to see what he comes up with next.
