SAVED FROM THE TRASH

On January 1, 2019 NASA made a new discovery with the New Horizons spacecraft. Completing its epic flyby of the most distant object ever explored, Ultima Thule

The 1960's were the golden age of NASA, when the agency was in a race for space exploration. President Kennedy set the tone after stating that before the decade ends we would put a man on the moon. The space program has changed quite a lot since the 19060's. NASA now depends on private companies like Space X to take their astronauts to space. That's what makes this recent find of 1,500 original photographs from NASA so special.  The images saved from a trash heap by a former employees of a national picture agency. These photographs where auctioned last year and it's a reminder of how far we've come in our exploration of space.
